Until it strands itself in a border town in Mexico, this is a cracking little thriller with a superbly sweaty performance by Steiger. He plays a crooked businessman who's on the run from the police who assumes the identity of another man en route to Mexico, only to ironically discover that he's now masquerading as a wanted murderer. And there's a persistent dog attached. It has a nice grubby feel to it - after years toiling on anodyne comedies, this is very solid work for director Annakin - with an inevitable but pleasing sense of doom about it.
