Friends since they were small boys, Adam and Paul - and we never learn which is which - have withered into two hapless, desperate Dublin junkies, tied together by habit and necessity. A highly stylized comedy, the film follows the pair through a single day, which, like every other, is entirely devoted to the business of scrounging and robbing money for drugs. The difference today is that Adam and Paul - already near rock bottom - have finally run out of luck, credit and friends.

A tale of two drug buddies... a truly great film
I saw the trailer for this film and thought,'That looks like a right load of old rubbish'....how wrong could I have been? I would recommend this film to anyone who can appreciate how something can be rib-shatteringly hilarious and devastatingly sad at the same time,in a way that seems to me to be a trademark of Irish literature.I'm really looking forward to the DVD release so that I can see this again.
No matter what you think of the film, the opening scene is very, very funny. After watching this and thinking about it for some time, then thinking some more I was still not 100% sure of whether it was enjoyable or interesting or both. The film follows 24hrs in the sad life of two Dublin smackheads (Adam & Paul) as they mooch around the city looking for a fix and any free booze/fags along the way. Don't get me wrong, these are not likeable chaps (think...robbing grannies and picking on disabled kids) but there is a story to be told and a few laughs along the way. Leftfield. Obtuse. Sad.....but worth a try if you want a change from blockbusting Hollywood cr@p.
