Most helpful review Adam

  • A slightly different boy meets girl film

Adam is about a man with Asperger's syndrome and his relationship with his beautiful new neighbour. It's a refreshing take on the usual boy meets girl romantic comedy and I really enjoyed it. It made a nice change from the usual formulaic films.

First saw this a few years ago and thought it was good, but i thought about the film a lot, and decided to rent again to see if it was deserving of such heady heights in my opinion, and found I liked it even better this time around. I think everyone should see this movie, give it a chance and you'll be telling all your friends to watch it also.

  • A gem of a film!

I'm not one to give such high ratings but I felt that this film deserved it. I had no preconceived ideas when I watched it because I hadn't read any reviews so it was a complete surprise to find a brilliant film which is now one of my favourites. A simple and yet charming storyline with lots of moments that make you chuckle and perhaps one or two that make you shed a tear. Hugh Dancy is perfect in the role of Adam with a wonderful mix of clever dialogue and awkward acting. Byrne is the ideal female lead because she maintains a relatable quality to her which is refreshing in this day and age.

I certainly think it's worth a watch or I wouldn't have rated it at almost 5 stars. Give it a try...I defy anyone with a heart not to fall in love with Adam (the character and the film).

This was a slow starter, but when it got going it was a really good film, it was sad, funny, happy. It was great to watch and understand what it was like for Adam and how he coped with relationships etc.

  • Intelligent and thoughtful drama

Adam is a thoroughly engaging drama, beautifully written and acted.

Hugh Dancy portrays Adam's quirks and unusual personality with wonderful pathos while Rose Byrne's Beth is a a gentle juxtaposition as the two gradually negotiate their fledgling relationship.

While Beth's background and family dramas feature as a backdrop, Adam's background and the loss of his father at the beginning are never really fully explored which is really the only negative point.
