Karyn Kusama, the writer-director of GIRLFIGHT, the story of a tough female boxer, turns her attentions to a tough female superhero in AEON FLUX. Based on a series of animated shorts that aired on MTV, the live-action feature film version stars Charlize Theron, in jet black hair, as the secret agent of the title. Aeon Flux is a .. Read more

First off, ignore the idiot who said that Theron is talentless. I don't know what planet he/she is on but I think that they were probably meaning to right a review of Halle Berry in Catwoman. Theron is certainly not a good reason to complain about this film. However I can understand why this movie has such mixed reviews, especially after reading the review by the fan of the original series (which I have never seen). It is very unusual indeed. So unusual in fact that I had to sit and ponder whether I actually enjoyed the experience or not. Its a film that I would say is aimed at hardcore sci-fi fans rather than your average movie goer (ie films such as Serenity and Underworld are much easier to consume). The world that Flux lives in is extremely odd on a number of levels - organic weapons and genetic communications being some of the more interesting elements. I think it would be fair to say that the world had me intregued and my wife confused (and possibly a little bored). The story is nothing to write home about, but it provides an adequate passing of 90 minutes. Its also nice to see the return of Johnny Lee Miller who in my opinion has been off our screens for far too long. All in all this is a good science fiction movie, albeit a little sterile and in need of 'darkening'. I'm marking it down by a couple of stars because of the terrible role that Pete Postlethwaite is forced to play - although the actor normally has me bowing to his pure talent his shuffling, snake-like, underdeveloped character in Aeon Flux lets both him and this film down massively. Otherwise, a worthy 90 minute watch for a sci-fi fan.
Watched this movie as an AVI file and had to get it as soon as it came out on DVD. Is really excellent and is now available on HD.
Presses the buttons for 'the nature of cyberspace' fans. Yes got lots of well hot babes in there, but has a better story line, deeply thought thru. let alone way cool.
This is one to buy ideally in HD.
Now I have to checkout the Manga ones that MTV based this movie on to understand the background more.
Best served in a big screen, your best DTS HiFi in a darken room with an Iced Beer.
Leaves you uplifted.
Kathy Jones. It doesn't have quite the same ring to it does it? The girl from Mumbles, West Glamorgan, took 'Zeta' from her paternal grandmother's Christian name. Her maternal grandmother was Catherine Fair, which sounds like a heroine from a lost Thomas Hardy novel, and must be considered altogether too on-the-nose. Practically 'per-fic' in every way, Zeta Jones is the complete package: she has beauty, talent, drive, and her share of good luck. It makes you wonder why she isn't an even bigger Read more
