First off, ignore the idiot who said that Theron is talentless. I don't know what planet he/she is on but I think that they were probably meaning to right a review of Halle Berry in Catwoman. Theron is certainly not a good reason to complain about this film. However I can understand why this movie has such mixed reviews, especially after reading the review by the fan of the original series (which I have never seen). It is very unusual indeed. So unusual in fact that I had to sit and ponder whether I actually enjoyed the experience or not. Its a film that I would say is aimed at hardcore sci-fi fans rather than your average movie goer (ie films such as Serenity and Underworld are much easier to consume). The world that Flux lives in is extremely odd on a number of levels - organic weapons and genetic communications being some of the more interesting elements. I think it would be fair to say that the world had me intregued and my wife confused (and possibly a little bored). The story is nothing to write home about, but it provides an adequate passing of 90 minutes. Its also nice to see the return of Johnny Lee Miller who in my opinion has been off our screens for far too long. All in all this is a good science fiction movie, albeit a little sterile and in need of 'darkening'. I'm marking it down by a couple of stars because of the terrible role that Pete Postlethwaite is forced to play - although the actor normally has me bowing to his pure talent his shuffling, snake-like, underdeveloped character in Aeon Flux lets both him and this film down massively. Otherwise, a worthy 90 minute watch for a sci-fi fan.
DO NOT EVER,EVER ,EVER WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS BAG OF B******S.IT IS THE WORST FILM EVER INFLICTED ON THE HUMAN RACE.NO PLOT,NO ACTING (AT ALL),THE EFFECTS ARE ABOUT AS GOOD AS ANYTHING MY 5 YEAR OLD NIECE COULD DRAW IN HER DRAWING BOOK.......I HATE MYSELF FOR WASTING 2 HOURS OF MY LIFE PUTTING UP WITH THIS RUBBISH.....
PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM
People leaping around for no reason, a plot that makes no sense and Peter postlethwaite floating around a futuristic city dressed in a tube. The best film since battlefield earth and fortress 2.
Could have been great, but bad acting, poor dialogue, and dire special effects reduce this film to to a merely mediocre re-hash of ideas. Stick to The Island, or Logan's Run for a far more entertaining couple of hours.
Much better that Ultra Violet.

Peter Chung's daring, experimental sci-fi series -- reimagined by some screenwriters and a director who don't appear to have liked the original.
Imagine Bladerunner remade by your gran.
The bleak urban technocracy of Chung's original Bregna is replaced by a clichéd garden-of-Eden Utopia with plastic plants. The Berlin Wall-esque division between the countries of Bregna and Monica has been removed (taking with it character motivation, atmosphere, and a huge amount of tension.)
Brave performances by Theron and Csokas manage to lift this film from the gutter, but these talented actors are not given much to work with.
There's a plot, of sorts, which mostly involves running around a lot and kicking people.
The story is lacking in so many elements, and the only thing I enjoyed, was seeing charlize Theron, in the different skin tight outfits. The action is mediocre, with a few good special effects... Worth watching if your a sci fi fan.
But don't expect 'Blade Runner'
Spend a sunday afternoon, watching it so that you can sleep through the dull parts.
I left this film on the shelf at my local rental store for almost 2 years, when i eventually got round to renting it, i was bowled over just how good it is!! :)
If you like Sci-Fi this is a must see!
Only rent this film if your desperate. Basically it's a load of sh.. Charlize Theron really made a bad choice here. Anyway only watch this movie if your really bored and you need some backup noise.
I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I ended up actually enjoying it. The story was rather muddled and incoherent and wasn't really anything we haven't seen before in any of a million sci-fi films from the last couple of decades, but it looked great with some fantastic sets and locations, special effects and costumes. It does a good job of transferring Peter Chung's original animated series to the big screen and Charlize Theron does an adequate job at portraying the titular heroine, but to be frank any number of well known beautiful actresses could have pulled it off given the various costumes and special effects employed to enhance the character, the role certainly doesn't require Ms Theron's brilliant acting ability! This film certainly won't be to everyone's taste, but it's under 90 minutes, has plenty of action and a gorgeous Charlize Theron in tight skimpy costumes to look at!
You have to pay attention, it's easy to lose the plot. It can sometimes leave you wondering who are the good guys, (are there any?)
Charlize Theron looks hot in the skin-tight outfit and, her acting and that of the other actors is not as wooden as some reviewers would have you think.
Not the dark, menacing furture-world we have come to expect from many films in the genre.
Plenty of action, good SFX, a reasonable script and story-line make this a watchable film.
The missus reckons it's ace....haven't seen it...can't comment......but she's the boss.
