Literally Breathtaking
By GraficAl from AYLESBURY , 10 Jul 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
I'm a great fan of aerial photography and this video is by far the best I've ever seen!
The widescreen format employed is outstanding, but this video's impact is mainly due to some very skillful and artistic use of the zoom lens and the helicopter's travel that presents a visual journey that is literally breathtaking. The subjects you would expect are all here - coastal scenery, inland landscapes, stately homes, town layouts, ancient buildings, archaeological & geological features. But there are bonuses too as we drop in to watch a naval rescue exercise.
My only criticism relates to the soundtrack: although a few of the musical excerpts are not entirely to my taste, they are nevertheless sufficiently varied so that it's not too long a wait to the next one! I do wish, however, that the post production team had resisted the urge to overdub sound effects to match the images throughout - watching AND HEARING a startled flock of seaguls as the helicopter speeds 10 feet over a cliff top is a bit ludicrous.
There are some bonus features too including a behind-the-scenes look at the camera system.- Was this review helpful to you?

(3)Excellent Viewing
By Adam Buckley from Hereford, England , 04 Jul 2007I'm an Aerial stills photographer and I've holidayed in this area for years, so I was expecting great things from this DVD.
I'm not dissapointed - the video is extremely high quality, excellent use of zoom and wide, very steady tracking.
The choice of locations leaves out some famous spots, but it's interesting to see locations I've not heard of even though I know the area quite well.
If I had to criticise, I would say the voiceover does sound a little 'overdone' at times and the music mix occasionally becomes irritating.- Was this review helpful to you?

What's there is good, but.....
By Wutty from Shropshire , 03 Mar 2005A well shot and visually interesting film with an informative commentary.
Don't, however expect a comprehensive view of the whole area. There are large chunks, many of them popular areas, missing completely from the tour.
How can you 'do' the West Country and miss out completely on the St Ives area for instance?- Was this review helpful to you?
