Excellent
A brilliant adaptation of Sarah Waters book by Andrew Davies. A must see, lots of twists and turns and quite spooky. Fantastic cast to boot.

Not a horror film.....
This is an enjoyable costume drama that would look comfortable on the BBC but not on the big screen.
This is not a horror movie and the only scary moment in the film was when the lips and voices of the actors went out of sync. It is nonetheless worth a look at if you have any interest in Victorian costume drama, spiritualism and the penal system.
Don't watch if you are looking for an effect-rich fright fest. -
