[Highly rated reviewer]So this was the summer of Turkeys and if you carved this one up it could feed half the country... It's so bad it's hard to know where to start, which is clearly a problem shared by the Film's Director Mr M Night 'I once made The Sixth Sense' Shylamalalalaman... The plot if you can call it that was so thin, you'd it had an eating disorder... The whole film is basically a vehicle for Jaden Smith whom I'm sure was chosen for the lead because of his excellent performance at the audition... he's not a great actor and I do feel kind of bad because, had the little tyke just learned the ropes the good old fashioned way by taking a few lesser roles, I'm sure he could be OK in the future,,, but he's completely ruined that by launching himself into the mainstream in a massive blockbuster film where he's not even convincing as the son of his real dad... The story is very much like the start of most M Night Shallalalalalammamamaman films, in that nothing makes any sense until the end where every thing is resolved in a spectacular twist Except that in this film there is no such twist and it just doesn't make any sense full stop... Honestly there are more holes in this movie's plot than the UK's Corporate Tax Policy... that said it does look very pretty and having lost the studio multi millions of dollars maybe they'll think twice before casting rich kids in movies with their dad... or before giving Mr Shylalalalmamaman the directors chair again until he come up with an actual idea... So for these reason I'm giving it 2 stars... i haven't talked about Mr Will Smith because he doesn't even merit a mention...

A lot better than you were led to expect.By Martyjk (5 reviews) , 09 Dec 2013It is not perfect by any means. Beautiful Cinematography and the Special effects are some of the best I have seen. After a slow starts it picks up. Interesting ideas which are a bit underdeveloped but Will Smith's son gets better as the film goes on. Worth watching nowhere near as bad as it was made out, seen a lot worse.
you should give this a missBy mousedj (3 reviews) , 08 Dec 2013all i can say is complete and utter garbage don't even bother with this one sent me to sleep half way though it's that dull and boring
The kid can't act...By a customer , 07 Dec 2013
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideAwful, massively flawed. The humans master space flight but can't figure out how to stop aliens from smelling them...One word, spacesuit. The accents are ridiculous too. One of the worst example of Hollywood nepotism I have ever seen, Jaden can't act.
Awful - one to missBy a customer , 07 Dec 2013Had to fast forward this film to get to the end. Maybe, by doing that, I may have missed the good bits! (If any) I had high hopes for a Will Smith film but it was dull and badly written. Perhaps it was a film his son wanted to be made to showcase his 'acting' abilities - but neither father nor son have come out well. I doubt if it will harm the career of the well established Will Smith - but it may be otherwise with Jaden Smith.
Miss itBy SPG01 (1 review) , 07 Dec 2013Don't even bother with this one ... one of the worst Sci-Fi films around at the moment. Saying that, the CGI background for the city is stunning, but it's the acting & plot that send this one crashing from a great height .... you're better off watching one of the B movies from the 50/60's with plastic monster & screaming girls instead of wasting your time with this ....Will is OK at best, but his son destroys any credibility that this film may have had somewhere to go ....
