One of the best episodes of the new Miss Marple series, this episode brings back Tommy and Tuppence Beresford in the shape of Greta Scacchi and the luscious Anthony Andrews.
The episode centres around a nursing home where Tuppence has concerns about the disappearance of a friend, having heard of the death of Tommy's aunt Ada. Hard to say any more without spoiling the plot but there are the usual surprising twists and turns.
Geraldine McEwan is super as Miss Marple and Scacchi and Andrews do a wonderful job of bringing the rarely seen Beresfords to life.
in this Agatha Christie adaptation, they try to create a 'Hitchcock feel' to the story. All the characters are acting wierd, and it all feels like a taunted fairy tale.
Though Geraldine McEwan makes an excellent Marple, she (Marple) did not appear in the original book, and her combination with Tommy and Tuppence makes the story overloaded with sleuths.
The other changes to the original story aren't really justified and leave some holes in the mistery plot.
Nevertheless, the acting is pretty good and the comic reliefs make it a fun Christie to watch.
