    [Highly rated reviewer]

After reading the critics reviews I wasn't holding great hopes for this film and found myself watching it waiting for something to be really bad, but it wasn't. Good adaption of moby dick, good story, good characters. A really good film. In all fairness its not the best dragon film but it is a good watch. Don't hesitate to rent.

  • sorta of dissappointed

I was looking forward to this film as it had dragons in it and an interesting twist on the moby dick story plus Danny Glover and Vinnie Jones(ok he only usually plays the hard man) in this he played a more a more comical role if you can call it that. Overall the film failed to deliver, ok there was some character bonding and interaction but it was a film that you could pause and not have to rush back to. I know this seems very negative but if i had some mates round to watch it it would have either been turned off or talked over

  • Surprisingly Good actually

Ok so i watched it just for the sake of watching it at first, but as the film continued to run the more i thought this film is actually alright.

Danny Glover give's a fantastic performance. The dialog is great. The story line is good it is not a movie that depends on special effects and things blowing up in order to pull it off. A bit soppy at times and slightly predictable towards the end

Would i watch it again? YES

    Would i recommend it? YES

  • Flatter than a pancake. Boring. Don't bother.

Might be a good idea on paper, turning Moby the big white whale story into white dragon story, but was extremely poorly performed. This film was so flat and lacked any kind of tension. How the so called 'ship' was supposed to convince anyone is beyond me, it was much too small to have the rooms that were supposed to be in it. The dragons were also of a very poor quality. I have seen domestic cats install more fear.

  • Think of the worst movie you have seen...this is worse!

I expected more with known actors such as Danny Glover and Vinnie Jones (Although I have seen no expectional performances from either during their careers). The film was not engaging in the slightest. I cared not if a character lived or died. And I was kind of hoping the main romantic couple would hurry up and die because there was connection between these two actors which was probably due at least in part to the very poor casting choices. The main criticism of the film was the exceptionally poor scripting which was reminiscent of a typical B movie which boasts cringe-worthy statements to put off even the most avid fantasy movie fanatic (Of which I am one). Finally, the suspense was about as heightened as watching the teletubbies. I don't say this about many mainstream fantasy/sci-fi films but this film shuld be avoided like the plague.

  • Feed the scriptwriter to the dragon!

The 'Moby Dick' parallel was an idea worth trying. Money was spent on making it look excellent, including superb dragons in the air and on the ground. But the whole thing drags on (Sorry) interminably - laboriously filling in gaps between the few action moments their budget presumably allowed. I'd have fed the scriptwriter to the dragon... along with everybody else who collaborated on this woeful storyline. Money was spent on Vinnie (except it must have run out...) and on Danny - how sad to see a good actor reduced to such rubbish. How desperately sad to see him trying so hard amid non entities who can't act *at all*. Their long soulsearching dialogues slide into yawnfests.

ONLY worth watching for the top class dragon effects. I am very keen on dragons, so the visuals nearly redeemed the whole thing for me. I said *nearly* - but no cigar...
