All Hail the Ale !!

Al Murrays series of his infamous stand up character 'The Pub Landlord' is an absolute treasure! Totally politically incorrect in a way which you just cant help but laugh at. Phil Daniels is laugh out loud funny as Terry, the regular with an unhealthy appetite for crisps and a brass band for a backside! Most of the catchphrases can't be repeated here but if you like you comedy in the same vein as things like The IT Crowd, you'll love this. Crude at times, childish, immature and down right hilarious !! Please bring your glasses back to the bar !!- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)I really tried to like this
By SiClark (8 reviews) from London , 30 Nov 2010Firstly I will say that I am a fan of Richard Herring. I think his stand up shows are amazing. So I had high hopes for this sitcom that he's written with Al Murray. Unfortunately this show really isn't very good.
I didn't just watch one episode and then send the disc back, I watched every single one, from both series. The humour is really basic, with obvious jokes and really annoying, unfunny catchphrases. These seem to be used when the writer's have run out of ideas and it's 'Hey, lets put in a round of catchphrases'. And one character farts all of the time. It's comedy gold. Really, it is.
I like a wide range of comedies from the slightly strange (Brass Eye, Spaced) to the incredibly stupid (Naked Gun, Airplane) but this show is just weak. Maybe if you are a fan of Al Murray you will enjoy it more than me but I can't really recommend it. I really wanted to like it but in the end I couldn't.- Was this review helpful to you?
