Brilliant and Human
By a customer from Sussex , 12 Mar 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
What can one say except that Alan Bennett's scripts are brilliant? His ear for catching character from dialogue/monologue is infallible. Everything seems bathed in a warm sadness that somehow is not just quintessentially northern but quintessentially human. Can't get enough.- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)Sublime portrait of northern life.

Bitter, sweet. Britishness, and Bennett at their best.
Remarkable dramas, painfully portrating class, culture, and humour.
Interesting introductions to each play by Alan Bennett, giving details and information about his work, which were first broadcast in the seventies, in the case of disc 1.- Was this review helpful to you?
