Bravo Alpha PapaBy Nootlin (133 reviews) from London , 29 Aug 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]It's a brave thing to try to adapt a beloved TV show/character to the big screen, but it worked. There aren't many comedies that make me laugh out loud, but Alpha Papa had me blowing bubbles out my nose the whole way through. When Alan's colleague and friend - they go out for a curry once a year - goes postal at the radio station where they both work, it is down to Alan to step up to the plate, ponder the plate, maybe clean the plate off and ask for another plate... because yes, as you'd expect, Alan isn't the first man you'd turn to in a hostage situation: he's all chat and no balls. If you like Alan Partridge, you'll love Alpha Papa. Steve Coogan is on top form, and he needs to be as the supporting cast is just that, supporting. Colm Meaney is excellent, as is Tim Key, but everyone else is underused. Not to the films detriment mind, as this is Alan's show. The jokes dip a little in the final third (the cinema got noticibly quieter) but pick up again for a satisfying ending.

very poorBy Jon1973 (5 reviews) , 10 Dec 2013Take a story which should have been a 30 minute esisode and make a 1 and a half hour film out of it. Same old jokes, nothing new and a long drawn out story and frankly boring. They should have left well alone. There series were terrific, but this just sullies the Alan Partridge brand. Very dissapointed.
A bit flat - like NorfolkBy stevieboy55 (23 reviews) , 09 Dec 2013Out from the confines of the TV sit-com Alan Partridge Alpha Male feels very contrived, thrown together and desperately improvised. Sadly lacks jokes and real laughs.
Big DisappointmentBy a customer , 09 Dec 2013Don't watch this film. After all the hype I was really looking forward to this, and for the first ten minutes I thought this was justified. Then it died....literally! The rest of the film seemed like a hotch potch of improvisation, with no even remotely memorable moments. Nowhere near up to the standard of the old TV series. Worst film adaptation of a TV series since 'The League of Gentlemen' and that's saying a lot.
Not As Good As I'd HopedBy TomDors (3 reviews) , 08 Dec 2013As a Partridge fan, I was disappointed. Would have liked to laugh out loud at least once or twice, which was always the case with the TV shows. Actually I don't think his awkward sports reporting on 'The Day Today' have ever been surpassed.
Don't believe the hypeBy a customer , 08 Dec 2013Thought about turning it off at times it was so bad. Had heard it was funny and the other reviews on here are mostly positive about it. But for me it was one of those films that you'd see the trailer and it would look good but then discover those were the only funny bits. Right from the start too many of the 'jokes' bombed in my opinion and some were in very poor taste. I think you have to be an Alan Partridge fan to love it, otherwise you'll probably find it as disappointing as I did
