Another Series Cancelled
By Maynard (134 reviews) from Gillingham, , 13 Oct 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Well, here we are again.....another good looking series cancelled after the first season, leaving you on a huge cliffhanger with no questions answered.
I can guarantee you will enjoy what there is available, hence the stars, but is there any point because there is no conclusion?
As I've said before, this shows how little is thought of the fan, follower, viewer, whatever. Surely a finalising episode could be concocted to round off the story even after cancellation!!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

(15)The Rock Is Rock Solid
By LuMan (1 review) , 17 May 2013For those of us that like to be kept guessing with our programming choices, Alcatraz will not disappoint. In a similar vein to Lost and Flash Forward we are given an intriguing scenario and then drip-fed snippets of clues that, we hope, will lead us to all those answers to the numerous questions that keep cropping up - like 'why DID all the occupants of Alcatraz warp forward in time 50 years?' Alas, we may never know as the show was cancelled after the first season.
The production value of this show is exceptionally good, with Sam Neill pulling out a superb portrayal of FBI agent Emerson Hauser and Lost's Jorge 'Hurley' Garcia playing the brilliantly characterised Dr Diego Soto. Other cast members (Sarah Jones, Parminder Nagra, Leon Rippey) are equally convincing, but Jonny Coyne's personification of Warden Edwin James is as sinister as it is iron-clad.
Each episode manages to cram a character profile, back-story, plot-development and numerous action sequences into a tight 43-odd minutes of running time. This may appear a bit rushed when watching the DVD/BD, but probably worked a lot better with the broadcast ad-breaks to give you breathing time.
So, the burning question is 'Should I rent this?' The answer is an absolute 'Yes!' Even if further seasons are not commissioned you will still come away enjoying the experience, despite not having any answers! Rent it today!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Lost in Alcatraz
By manonfireuk (299 reviews) from Liverpool , 06 May 2013The only problem with getting into an American tv show these days is that unless it generates viewing figures of 700 billion for each episode then it gets cancelled which is a real shame because by the end of these 13 episodes you'll be gripped. Another great to show cancelled by the impatient tv bosses in America, a real shame- Was this review helpful to you?
