Warm and fun - it's a must see
This film is superb. It stars Alyson Stoner from Camp Rock as Alice McKinley who is starting the sixth grade and is having a hard time making friends.
She constantly has visions which make her feel as if she is a very popular person.
She meets new people especially Patrick Longham played by Dylan McLaughlin, whom she meets in the dressing room of a store.
Pamela played by Bridgit Mendler is the popular girl who basically gets whatever she wants.
Elizabeth played by Parker McKenna Posey is Alice's new neighbour who lives across the street from Alice and her family.
Alice's mother died when Alice was just five years old.
Alice has a big brother named Lester played by Lucas Grabeel - he can sing, play the guitar and the piano. He doesn't have any trouble making any friends or fitting in at his new school. Actually he makes many friends on the first day of school.
Alice's dad Ben has taken their mum's dealth harshly, after she dies from leukemia. Alice has very little memory of her mother, often confusing her with her aunt, and seems to bear a striking physical resemblance to her, especially her strawberry-blond hair.
As Alice struggles to find her place in middle school, she matures both emotionally and socially and her relationships with her family, friends, and teacher Mrs. Plotkin begin to change and grow in positive ways.
What's so refreshing about Alice Upside Down is that the film truly captures the insecurities of being an 11-year-old about to enter middle school without the abundance of teen attitude so popular in other films.
Well worth watching.
