    [Highly rated reviewer]

Easily the worst film in the series however even though it sounds contradictory, it's actually worth a watch as a sci-fi film in it's own right. It's just a shame it's tarnishing the reputation of the first two by being associated with them. The effects are decent as is the ever-excellent Sigourney Weaver, but this film has a couple of comedy moments which in my opinion is pure blasphemy for a film part of the classic Alien franchise.

really disappointing - thought it might be a greatest hits with some fun plot tinkering and 'don't think too hard' stuff, to make it hang together, but, apart from some scary bits (thanks in large part to memories of previous films) this was poorly made stuff. Terrible music, bizarre plot elements with jumps and inconsistences too blatant for me to be able to ignore, and an unscary final monster with... what is that? puppy-dog eyes?! Not worth waiting up for.

It should have ended with Alien 3.

Alien 3 was mauled by fans on it's release but over the years it has become appreciated more and is a slark sombre conclusion to what was a classic trilogy. The 2003 extended cut was far superior to the 1992 cinema version of Alien 3 that almost restored David Fincher's vision.

Alien Resurrection however is just pathetic un-needed cash in. The concept was a good idea but the execusion is lousy, by a Director who does not understand what made the first three movies work. The addition of a comedy element is just wrong, it even managers to make Alien VS Predator and Aliens VS Predator Requiem look respectful. Don't even get me started on the W. T. F. moment of the birth of the Hybrid as I have seen scarier monsters on the Muppet show.

This is a movie of Franchise killing preportions. Watch the first three movies back to back and then put this on and you'll see what I mean.

    'Game over man, game over!'

Compared to some of the Alien Franchise films out there this is a poor show. The biggest complaint being there is insufficient fighting between the Aliens and rebels. At least in the widely panned films Alien V Predator 1 and 2 there were fight scenes galore, (which were both well produced and well filmed!)

Furthermore, Alien Resurection doesn't have the suspence that Alien did and as previously mentioned the all out fights as in Aliens.

At the beginning Ridley has an Alien, (a tiny baby one - ah isn't it cute) taken out of her. She later aserts that with the Queen Alien on board everyone in the company will die.

We are then introduced to other members of the crew : Lecoule and Donner. The chap in the wheel chair has a knife dropped into his leg by a, 'Buddy,' - nice!

The crew are put into glass pods with eggs coming out of containers. That is probably among the best cinematic work in the entire film, (and a staple of the Aliens Franchise).

A very violent fight takes place in the gym yard and Ripley's blood melts through the floor..

A good scene is when one of the Rebels is frozen following the Aliens escaping. (The freezing appartus was used to keep the Aliens at bay, to train them if you like).

Some of the crew evacuate into space and the Rebels are left to tour the Alien infested ship.

Ripley stumbles upon room number eight and comes across, (just as in the Fly to some extent) a wierd alien / human creature who asks to be killed - plus other artifacts. she uses the trusted flame thrower.

The ambush chase fleeing the Aliens under water is worth watching out for but then the film never really delievers a satisfing end.
