Donald Pleasence is the head of a New Jersey lunatic asylum keeping its really dangerous criminal inmates — among them Jack Palance and Martin Landau — under electronic surveillance. When a power failure occurs, the violent psychos break out and head to the home of the asylum doctor. This is a repetitive mishmash of stalk-and-slash themes and jump cuts. Aside from a promising opening dream sequence, a fleeting apparition (created by gore veteran Tom Savini) and an interesting “who's really crazy?” denouement set at a punk rock concert, the debut horror feature from director Jack Sholder (The Hidden) is a below-par maniacs-on-the-loose saga that revels in its own shock excesses. And, by the way, no one in the entire movie is ever alone in the dark.

  • Based on a video game, this derivative drivel offers the scary notion of government agents of the paranormal equipped with enough fire-power to fight the next world war; otherwise, it's just an interminable night-time shoot out with giant lizards.

Move along, nothing to see here...

..this is quite possibly the worst movie I have ever had the misfortune of seeing.

Director Uwe Boll has made another film based on a series of computer games from the mid 90's.

Christian Slater plays a paranormal detective, with Tara Reid playing his ex-flame. The film has something to do with orphans, and Demons from an ancient culture taking over the world. That's where my understanding of the movie ends.

As the 'story' 'progresses' (2 words missing from Boll's dictionary), you start believing you were either abducted by aliens or you fell asleep for 10 minutes, as you begin to wonder what is going on, on the screen. It actually does feel like 10 minutes were taken out here and there.

The special effects were awful, and looked like they were produced by someone submitting a piece of work for school...perhaps that just add's to the cheesyness factor.

Either way, the movie was absolutely dire, you will walk away from the movie wondering what the hell it was you just saw, and start questioning how Boll is getting funding for his next movies.

Avoid Uwe Boll and any movie he has made, like the plague. Lets just hope he doesn't balls up Bloodrayne or Far Cry.

Don't bother watching this movie unless you were a fan of the game, and if you were, you'll still end up being dissapointed.

    Not bad but not great

An average horror flick, may be worth 3 stars if you are a big fan of the game .
