9/11 - A Date to rememberBy Cheltonyan from Glos. , 02 Feb 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]How can you do justice to the events of 9/11? This is a powerfully memorable DVD, the outcome of two photographers being in the right place at the right time, though surely they would not put it like that.
Starting in summer 2001, the brothers arrange to follow Tony, a probie (probationary fireman) from Ladder 1, one of New Yorks fire stations, close to the World Trade Centre. They filmed footage of his progression from basic training through to the point where hes proving himself more and more in the team, and becoming one of the brothers in the squad. However, by September 1st, hes still awaiting his literal Baptism of Fire: his first action in a significant emergency that will really put his training to the test. More importantly, just like a pygmy killing his first elephant, it will prove his manhood to himself and his squad. Will he prove worthy?
On September 11th, there is an early-morning callout to check a suspected gas leak. Surprisingly, the unusual sound of an approaching aircraft is heard above them in the skyscraper-filled skies...
The rest is not just recorded history, but an amazing testimony to the courage and training of the NYFD as a whole, and Ladder 1 in particular. There is death, courage and reality in a way which overrides any clichés. A worthy record of unexpected and unique events. Well worth seeing!

a sad reminderBy a customer from Canterbury , 05 Nov 2008The film was a sad reminder of that terrible day.And is mostly eyewitness accounts of the events of the day, sometimes it is a little to depressing to watch so we only watched half of the documentary.but it was interesting to see in times of need how every body tried to help.
RubbishBy benson73 (1 review) from Hemel Hempstead , 30 Mar 2008To be blunt this was a load of pooh, not gritty at all.
Horribly realBy a customer from North Wales , 14 Sep 2007This documentary arrived on the 12th Sept a day after the sixth anniversary of 9/11 2001. Not sentimentalised, yet somehow poignant. Awful glimpses of the dead, but not voyeuristically, as fire departments searched for bodies amongst the rubble.

Complete Waste of TimeBy a customer from Stroud, GLOS , 02 Nov 2006Read the review from Cheltonyan from Glos and it looked ok.
Having watched this rubbish film I think he's just cut & pasted a review for the excellent 9/11 movie against this turgid splicing of disjointed interviews. I'm only gonna live once & I don't want to waste my precious time watching stuff like this. Thanks alot Cheltonyan from Glos! Next time actually watch the movie you purport to review.
