Ridley Scott's newest effort American Gangster has beaten Beowulf to the top of the UK box office chart. For the weekend beginning November 16th, American Gangster took approximately £2.56 million while Beowulf debuted with around £2.19 million, according to AC Nielsen data. There was little change at the UK box office this week as Ridley Scott's New York epic American Gangster stayed at number one for the second week. According to AC Nielsen, the weekend beginning November 23rd saw the film take another £1.82 million in receipts, putting it ahead of Beowulf once again.
