If you thought Dumb and Dumber or There's Something about Mary plumbed the depths of grossness, hold on to your lunch — you ain't seen nothing yet. This laughter-packed comedy about four teenage boys who pledge to lose their virginity before prom night has enough crass gags to satisfy the most demanding fans of Porky's-style farces. Yet it also boasts some spot-on performances from a hip young cast that includes Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Tara Reid and Natasha Lyonne. The title refers to one of the more eye-widening sequences, in which Jim (Jason Biggs) gets a bit too friendly with his mom's apple pie. This is definitely not one to show granny, but must-see fare for those not easily offended.

    An American high

My nephew persuaded me to watch this and he was right to. It is well cast, well acted and well put together. While most of the humour is derived from teenage boys preoccupation with sex it isn't the gross out teen comedy I was expecting. Perhaps I appreciated it from the perspective of the excruciatingly embarrassing Dad.

    Funny Americans, for once

This film is as funny as they get. Teen movies can often be boring and self-referential. American Pie is much, much better. American Pie is a film that has been taken at face value by most of its target audience. To many, it is simply a film about four friends trying to get laid before they graduate high school and go on to bigger and better things (well, maybe, let's see the sequel). But I believe that the writer and the studio had something else in mind. If they wanted to do another sex comedy, they could have done a remake of 'Losin' It' or 'Porky's' or something else from the '80s. Instead, they found a way to incorporate those entertaining tactics into a film with a finely developed coming-of-age message. The sex part is really just to keep the viewer watching.

American Pie could be called an organized sex comedy. But I think it's an organized drama. The ending was a fine one--something that we can all relate to as we say goodbye to one stage of our lives and head out to bigger and better things. Highly recommended.

This has to be one of the funniest American comedies released to date. Based on American teenagers about teenagers. You'll never look at warm apple pie the same way again!

American Pie takes a hysterical look at the goal of four "unlucky in love" high school friends who make the ultimate pact: lose their virginity by prom night. As they try to manipulate their way into the hearts of some of their classmates, their plans often backfire with hilarity. One fails to score with the sexy foreign exchange student and then makes a last ditch effort with a band member who has an interesting way with her flute, while another is so desperate he actually hires someone to give him a "reputation".

Follow the raging hormones of four teenage boys and their girls as they gear up for the most important night of their lives; the prom?

Sit back and enjoy a piece of America's #1 comedy hit! Once you have seen this, you will not wait until you want to see the sequels!

    Not as good as Porky's

Although this is newer, we did not find it as funny as Porky's. Some of the jokes are a bit forced.

    Outrageous Fun

First time i saw this movie i had tears of laughter running down my face throughout.

Forget the 80's crap like Porky's and meatballs, this is the sex comedy of the decade.

Imagine getting yourself into the worse sex related predicaments imagineable, add some great acting talent mainly from newcomers and you've got yourself a slice of hilarious pie.

Do not miss this on your life!

The definition of a classic - spawned two sequels (neither of which was too bad) and a raft of copycat movies. Need we say more. If you haven't seen it, and enjoy a raucous (and sometimes raunchy) belly laugh, give it a go. A true modern-day Ferris Bueller - a side-splitting comedy that delivers an inadvertant commentary on modern society by its least eloquent members. Hilarious, and worth watching for that reason alone, if nothing else.

I don't like to think of myself as someone who goes for gross-out comedies, but this one was suprising in the fact that, although I would have given it maybe not even two stars for the trashy content, the end was suprisingly up-beat, even, dare I say it having some morals. This is so unexpected from a movie publicised as this one has been that I have to give it three stars, although I wouldn't go to see the next two, as I doubt that they'd share this one's odd charm.

    Funny

Well it made me squirm with embarrassment and laugh a lot. I think you'd have to be pretty straight laced not to have a chuckle at this.

Excellent, excellent film. Very funny from start to finish. Its a bit sick in places, especially during the bits with the pale-ale and Finchs toilet-trip, but that just adds to the humour!

    Cant fault this film
