Ahh, the City of Lights, full of marvels to tempt three boorish American backpackers: the Champs-Elysees, the Left Bank, the racist gangs of disaffected young right-wing lycanthropes. After rescuing a desperate woman from a swan dive off the Eiffel tower, a collegian discovers her scary, hairy secret--too late. The direction emphasizes the cornball humor of its predecessor, "An American Werewolf in London," and a blitzkrieg of computer effects.

Made as a belated sequel to the classic An American Werewolf in London, this watered-down lycanthrope lampoon from director Anthony Waller is frustratingly devoid of the edgy suspense, biting humour and keen visual style of that comedy horror landmark. Three American students, including That Thing You Do's Tom Everett Scott, go to Paris to bungee jump off the Eiffel Tower and find themselves inducted into a tortured twilight world of full Moon parties where French lowlifes are feasted on by shape-shifting hairy creatures. Despite the presence of the lovely Julie Delpy as a werewolf whose mutating biorhythms are kept in check by an experimental serum, Waller's low-key special effects extravaganza doesn't have the fairy-tale quality of director John Landis's original.
A sequel to An American Werewolf in London which often resembles a remake of the original, though it lacks that film's engaging mix of horror and black humour.

Moviemaker John Landis has confirmed reports a remake of his hit 1981 horror-comedy An American Werewolf In London is planned. Dimension Films has acquired the remake rights to the movie, which Landis will release on Blu-Ray this summer (09). Landis tells website Bloody-Disgusting.com, "Perhaps someone will make a brilliant movie out of it. "Regardless, my film comes out on Blu-Ray this summer and looks amazing. I was afraid the digital cleaning of the negative would result in too clear a... Read more
