Good but gooey

As always the production team deliver something that is gorgeaus to look at cinematically but the film falls foul on being over schmaltzy hollywood style and so is no where near as good as Hero or Flying daggers- Was this review helpful to you?

Love Story Overpowering the Palace Intrigue
By a customer , 07 Jul 2012This is basically a love story set against a backdrop of a battle for power. Whilst the romance provides a little comedy, it also tends to slow the film down and detracts from the palace intrigue. This is a shame as the power struggle is the most interesting part of the film. The characters are fairly two dimensional, the good guys unbelievably good with the baddies almost mustache-twirling. Although this is by no means a classic, it is an enjoyable enough way to spend an hour and a half.- Was this review helpful to you?
