A movie based on a PowerPoint presentation by a former presidential candidate may not sound exciting, but once AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH hits its stride viewers may be surprised how compelling the subject matter proves to be. While many high-ranking political figures continue to argue about global warming, Al Gore has plunged .. Read more

Absolute rubbish! The world's climate is not changing from higher CO2 concentrations. The ice-core graph he uses is false - the climate got much hotter 800 yrs before CO2 levels increased, i.e. there is a 800 yr lag which he doesn't mention. This means CO2 is an effect of global warming, not the cause. The sun's solar flares/activity are a much more logical explanation (which we cannot control at all!) and recent graphical data fits amazingly with temperature vs solay activity.
Simply put - Sun heats Earth; oceans temp rise slowly (800 years) thereby releasing CO2 (previously dissolved into the ocean); sun activity decreases; Earth cools; oceans cool (over similar timescale) and dissolve atmospheric CO2, thereby decreasing the levels.
This film is a propaganda stunt from politicians/environmentalists which use biased scientists with views, NOT facts. Global warming scientists have a big agenda: to promote human-made global warming and thereby get more funding/grants from government. Global warming is happening (warming and cooling has happened for thousands of years) but the fact that it is portrayed as Human-Made global warming is a great reason for increasing taxes on flights/cars and also denying the 3rd world countries to use all their resources on 'green' grounds. It's all politics.
As a scientist myself I find this film inaccurate and biased in the way it portrays the new religion of human-made global warming. It is both arrogant to think that humans can effect global warming and at the same time prevent it.
I think the only inconvenient truth here is that Al Gore, God forbit, might actually be wrong!
This is a documentary. So be prepared to learn something. BE prepared to learn something important. IT Will change your outlook on the enviroment and it will help you on those after dinner chats with friends to defend your pro enviromental stance. Often funny, always informative and rather inspiring, this film WILL lead you to making a difference, however small towards the future of our planet. Tell your friends, get everyone to watch it. And watch the end credits. Wht a shame Al Gore didn't become president. How diferent the world would be now.
You could forgive Al Gore if he was to make this film a political rant against the opposition, having had the misfurtune of having the presidency 'stolen' from him by Bush. However this is by no means a political ego trip, this makes absolute sense and should make you sit up and take notice. It is an important piece of info-mentary film, put forward by an important figure in a very informative way. Look, I am no green or eco-warrior, but this is a must watch for anyone that gives a damn about the world we currently inhabit and give scant regard for. Give it a watch.
Al Gores' reinvention as an eco-warrior supreme seems to work wonders in this very informing and yet hard-hitting documentary. If only this man hadn't been cheated out of the US presidency.
Anybody who chooses to question the validity of Al Gore's arguments in this film will discover huge holes in his research. I thought this kind of brain washing propaganda disappeared with the Nazi's.

As someone who works in the 'industry' I already knew a lot about climate change, yet this film still presented me with some new facts and predictions. I thought Gore struck a good balance between his public and personal life, with some interesting insights into his motivation for this subject. I didn't see it as a presidential campaign, but if he does decide to run, I think America can count themselves lucky indeed.
If you believe this, you will believe anything! When politicians stand up and tell you that they have all the answers, it's time to leave the building!! For the real truth watch this http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4340135300 469846467
If you hate politics or just hate Gore - put that aside to see this movie.
This is one of the rare times you will see an incredibly good public speaker in action. The environmental message is very clear - if you are a sceptic about climate change see if you change your mind after seeing the pictures and statistics. Some charts released to public view for the first time, and it is truely shocking - however much you know about the subject beforehand.
On the negative side there is a feeling that this is a advert for running for president - but as that is constantly denied by Gore hopefully it's true, as it would overshadow and undermine all the work he has done on this project.
This is uncomfortable yet essential viewing for everyone. It would have been easy for this film to stray away from the evidence or trade in screaming hysteria. Unfortunately for the planet, neither is necessary for the film to have an impact. The evidence is that strong, and it is that frightening. This is the most compelling presentation of the issue that I have seen.
Thankfully there is also a strong message that it is not (yet) too late, and everyone can play their part. The film ends with simple steps that everyone can take to contribute towards avoiding dangerous climate change. Whilst I may not have "loved it" (as is my rating - 6/7) this could be one of the most important films ever made.
Dont see this thinking its going to be a rollercoaster action movie - it's not. But it is probably one of the most important films of our time, and a serious wake-up call for everyone.
Of course it cant cover every aspect of Global Warming/Climate change - the film would run on for days! But it does give you a good overview of the problems & the potential solutions.
I believe that every child should be shown this at school, so they can go home and 'nag' thier parents about what they are doing to protect thier future....
Lets all just hope that it's not too late....
It is a shame that statistics and science can be so carefully selected to present such an inaccurate portrayal of climate change for political gain.
If this film is about climate change, fine. The facts should be presented, allowing the audience to make their own minds up. Al Gore shoud not splice what he presents as 'facts' with very corny slices of americana and his own childhood tossed in with the odd jibe at the political opposition in his own country as an aside.
This is a serious issue that needs correct and accurate coverage for the betterment of the planet. What I am worried about is that people will learn this is presented wrongly and largely composed of inaccurately portrayed research and then ignore the facts dismissing them as propoganda, which this clearly is.
Recently the makers of the film have had to apologize for some of the content (a particularly silly reference to polar bears drowning due to melting ice).
I am a geologist with some experience in climate change, and enough common sense to see this for what it is. Fiction. Or at best a misrepresentation of the truth.
Fiction. Not a documentary.
Before putting this CD on, I must admit I was thinking: 'An hour and 40 minutes of documentary... what's that going to be like? Will it hold my attention?'
I needn't have worried. Yes, the film is largely based on Al Gore's 'slide show', using Powerpoint. But he's an excellent presenter (Powerpoint users, learn from him!). And above all, the MESSAGE of the film is so riveting, and so important, that it holds the attention just as much as any flash-bang-crash thriller. Unlike the thriller, this film is about the real world, and about the possible catastrophe - global warming - that has already started happening, but which we can still do something to avoid if we act NOW.
Inter-cut with the 'slide show' presentation scenes are some sequences in which Gore's own voice-over shares some of his thoughts while he's pictured driving, visiting the farm where he was brought up, and so on. We learn that Gore's commitment to his cause comes from some personal tragedies and losses - a personal touch that gave the film much more depth than was apparent from the 'slide show' scenes.
No doubt about it: if you care about the environment, watch this film. If you're not interested in the environment, watch this film - because when you've watched it, you will care about the environment.
