Sanjeev Kumar a woman-hating writer lands in a fix when he rescues a strange female lying injured on the road. When the girl Jaya Bhaduri regains consciousness she insists that she is his wife. The family doctor and his father ask him to humour the poor girl till they find a solution to the problem. Sanjeev Kumar however falls to the charms of Jaya. But then as suddenly as she had come into his life, she disappears. A distraught Sanjeev searches for her but in vain. Then one day at a party organized by his publisher he meets Jaya Bhaduri againÉ but this time she refuses to recognize himÉ watch the mystery unfold in Ananmika.
