This is the dvd of the programmes screened on channel 4, it doesn't have any extras but I guess this is intended for those who missed the original programmes or just want to see them again, or own them. There are 3 programmes, each concentrating on diffrent things. The best bits for me were: Seeing lungs get re-inflated and seeing a blood-like liquid getting pumped through the heart of a dead man so at it 're-animates' the organs. The worst part for me was seeing a man get flayed, it made me feel very squeamish.
Unlike the other 2 reviwers, I dont see anything to complain about, yes if you study or are interested in anatomy you probably already know most of what is being taught, however, most of us have not had the chance to actually SEE it, for real, with real people as oppossed to pictures or plastic models.
I don't get why some people have this big moral objection to it, how is it 'unjustifiable' to do it? These people voluntered their bodies, and their bodies are treated no more like a 'piece of meat' than when people are in the morgue, have autopsies, or get embalmed. So whats the big deal? If you really hate the idea, its simple, don't watch it.
Far from being boring, this educational DVD is a piece of fiendish
movie drama, starring a half-crazed, bizzarely dressed, thickly-
accented, German Professor of 'anatomical plastination' hacking away
at the body of a personal friend while a spellbound audience of body-
donors and medical students look on in awe. A list of contents and extensive review, plus background, is available online at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/cheal/message /517
Don't expect a detailed treatise on the finer points of anatomy, but expect a sometimes dull subject to be brought fully alive!
