    [Highly rated reviewer]

This is the dvd of the programmes screened on channel 4, it doesn't have any extras but I guess this is intended for those who missed the original programmes or just want to see them again, or own them. There are 3 programmes, each concentrating on diffrent things. The best bits for me were: Seeing lungs get re-inflated and seeing a blood-like liquid getting pumped through the heart of a dead man so at it 're-animates' the organs. The worst part for me was seeing a man get flayed, it made me feel very squeamish.

Unlike the other 2 reviwers, I dont see anything to complain about, yes if you study or are interested in anatomy you probably already know most of what is being taught, however, most of us have not had the chance to actually SEE it, for real, with real people as oppossed to pictures or plastic models.

I don't get why some people have this big moral objection to it, how is it 'unjustifiable' to do it? These people voluntered their bodies, and their bodies are treated no more like a 'piece of meat' than when people are in the morgue, have autopsies, or get embalmed. So whats the big deal? If you really hate the idea, its simple, don't watch it.

  • Disgusting voyeurism

Absolutely disgusting. Many of the bodies are obtained from China, where the issue of consent is overlooked. There is no need whatsoever for this macabre voyerism, there are plenty of other ways to understand human anatomy. There is nothing educational to be gained from this at all.

  • Excellent Viewing

This program is excellent, it shows just how some of the basic systems that sustain life operate within our own bodys.

The 'cadavers' faces are covered, showing great respect for the amazing individuals whom have decided to provide there bodies for this programme.

Some have said that treating the body as 'a piece of meat' is not justified. However that is exactly what it is, once you have died.

I feel it far more noble that a body is used to educate rather than being burned or buried in the ground to rot. I understand this is aq pure Athesist view, but do remember that this was done at the wishes of the individuals concerned.

I found these programmes very, very interesting and educational! It is a great way to see 'exactlly' what your bodily organs look like and how they function. Not for those who have a weak stomach as it can get quite gruesome!

  • Amazing but a bit slow

I was really looking forward to this but I found I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Maybe it was because I was eating my tea. Or maybe it's because sometimes the Strange Doctor is fiddling about for ages, and the embarrassed co-presenter looks like he's desperate to think of something to keep things going. I just found it a bit slow sometimes.

But the up side is that although you might think you know what's inside you (ah yes, a kidney, I recognise you) - the way everything's packed in and bound together under your skin is quite eye-opening and strange. That includes the bright yellow fat inside you. Interesting stuff.
