Powerful stuff
By Kuldeep Bhandal from Wimbledon, London , 21 Mar 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
A stellar cast which would put a high cost hollywood production on the smaller screen at the multiplex. Spot the cameo !!
The story begins in the wake of the AIDS epidemic and the complicated social factors affecting not only the gay community in specifically America, but the race and fierce competition the business of science entered to claim the now infamous HIV virus.
It does look a little dated because it is and adds to the authenticity of it all. An engrossing movie.- Was this review helpful to you?

(7)Good, informative, must watch!
By Vjay (1 review) , 27 Nov 2011Even though this is an old movie, it still is really great and informative. I have never read the book, but this film makes me want to go out and read it. Some parts were a bit technical, but nothing was complicated and I really enjoyed it, it wasn't overly sentimental , but direct and to the point. The cameos were good, but not totally necessary, I think I would have watched the film regardless of the 'big names'.- Was this review helpful to you?

Informative
By Mykey (3 reviews) from Maldon , 26 Feb 2009Early days of aids. This film was important in bringing information to the masses. That needed to be done but does seem a little dated now. Interesting none the less.- Was this review helpful to you?

Definitive & Powerful Account of the AIDS virus
By Grifster (10 reviews) from London , 09 Jan 2009This is a must see adaptation of the book written by the now deceased Randy Shilts.
The performances are strong and thought provoking, with a talented ensemble. The movie details the emergence of the disease, and the fight to get a Republican administration to acknowledge it, and fund AIDS research.
Ultimately this a story of how ignorance and politics delayed an effective response to the AIDS virus.- Was this review helpful to you?

A Colossal Movie
By a customer from Burnham. Bucks. , 21 Nov 2008This movie should be mandatory viewing for governments, researchers and indeed the world in general. It clearly illustrates how the most deadly disease to inflict mankind was ignored and how it could have been contained in it's early stages. Great production and direction- Was this review helpful to you?
