Andaaz is a typical love triangle story. Established star Akshay is pitched against two newcomers, Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra (although this was her 3rd movie as opposed to the debut which the credits suggest). What was interesting to see was that Chopra played a grey character, (certainly compared to Dutta?s character), so early in her career, particularly if she wanted to establish herself as a leading heroine.
Chopra?s incarnation is not as dark as the femme fatale she played in Aitraaz (also against Akshay), but she certainly carried off the role with a difference to the usual triangular situation presented in other films. That was its's saving grace. So I gave the film 3 stars - for average entertainer than 2 star - for what most other films would get for this border-line lame story.
If you?re a fan of any of the 3 leads - it worth a watch and the songs are average, but nothing special. But if you want heavy plot, with deep characters, this is not the one.
