Whimsy is not usually director Luis Mandoki's cup of tea. He specialises in bringing us realistic love stories such as When a Man Loves a Woman and here again he delivers an unconventional romance. Jennifer Lopez is excellent as embittered Chicago cop Sharon Pogue who's hopelessly at odds with her father and brother's brutality towards their wives. On the streets, however, she is as aggressive as they are until rescued one day by enigmatic drifter Catch (Jim Caviezel). The two begin a tentative “relationship” but Lopez soon realises that Caviezel's ethereal manner has its roots in a tragic accident. Here Mandoki examines whether damaged personalities can come together in spite of their emotional baggage and it's this darker slant that makes Angel Eyes intriguing. What lets the entire experience down is an appalling finale, which reeks of schmaltz and studio pressure for a conventional ending. The director should never have compromised.

Intelligent, tragic, often humorous, romantic drama

I really enjoy this film. I, like a lot of people, originally watched this movie purely because it stars Jennifer Lopez. However, if you are looking for an action packed movie full of one liners and special fx then this is not the film for you! If on the other hand you desire an absorbing story, with complex characters who will make you both laugh and cry, this is the place to be!

The real beauty of this film is in the way the two main characters are gradually revealed to us. They appear so strong, but like so many of us in our lives, are just treading water. Maybe together they can overcome their inner demons and start from 'Scratch'!

As a (very) Senior Citizen, I found this film absolutely charming. I didn't doze off once during it. For me that is a rarity among present day films.

This film had a confused story line wih inaudible speech. The femail cop was violent, mentally disturbed and knew nothing about the law. This film I would rate zero.

This movie starts off very slow and you really wonder why you bothered with it in the first place and it does not get any better either. All in all it is not a very good film to watch.

    Worth watching

I hadn't really seen any reviews of this movie and didn't have a clue as to what it was about. I spent the best part of the film waiting for the guy to turn into some psycho-stalker killer type person, but he didn't! Was an OK movie to watch and was worth getting, not one for the top of your list but still deserves a place on it!

    Nothing happens

Put this on the list beacause I thought J-Lo was good in Out of Sight. Watched it and had no problem with the acting but nothing much happens in the film. I was itching to fastforward after about 30 minutes and there was another 60 minutes to go! Jim Caviezel was good in Thin Red Line and not to bad in this but still, the movie just doesnt go anywhere.
