I found this narrative very predictable, film noir by numbers in my opinion.
Mitchum sleep walks his way through it and the endless shots of Jean Simmons attempting the smouldering femme fatale with vengence on her mind become tiring. For me she lacks the menace and the sexiness to carry this off.
The best scene is that between the two women. Not a patch on Laura.
