This was an excellent ending to what was an excellent show. Angel fans would agree that every season was different and Season Five was no exception to that rule. In this final season, the secrets of Wolfram and Hart are finally revealed as Angel and the gang are recruited to run the LA office. It flips everything we know on its head and brings a whole new dimension to the show...its just a shame that it was cancelled so early as I honestly think that this new format completely revitalised the programme. Generally the series is more tongue in cheek than the other seasons and you can see quite clearly that the cast are enjoying themselves. Its very lighthearted (especially in comparison to the gloomy season 4) but in many ways darker than before. A highly recommended series that (like most of Joss Whedon's programmes) finished too early. RIP Angel.
Is Angel the chosen vampire with a soul? Or is Spike the real answer to the prophecy? Well we still don't know but with these four episodes we learn a little more. As usual you have moments of laugh out loud scripts and a few shocks.
This last series attempts to have a few more stand alone episodes as opposed to the long arc stories. But there is always more questions than answers at the end of the storylines. Without any doubt at all this is quality viewing. When Angel slips below its normal high standard it is still way above the average. Of the four episodes here all four are witty and fun. Well worth a wider audience.
