With 'Sud side story' and 'Tano da morire', Torre has shown us that she is capable of more than competent directing but not only, she is also adept as a writer of relatively good and intriguing story lines.

Although those films were primarily musical films, we see a recurring theme in her work, the organised crime theme, approached in a more than confrontational nature and even ridiculed in an all too simplistic fashion.

This film however, shows the director progressing, slowly maturing to produce films which are capable of impressing an audience, possibly even positively.

Greater character depth, use of dynamic and utterly chaotic POV's (the lack of use of any steady-cam is evident also perhaps due to lack of space), and the neurotic, edgy, 'episodic' nature of the whole movie. It's all over before you know it. Not forgetting of course, great performances not only from Finocchiaro (Angela) but from most of the colorful, passionate characters involved.

I really enjoyed the movie and am glad to see that Italy is slowly re-emerging, with directors like Torre and Virzi'. A very good film.
