Following in the wake of his art house experiment Punch-Drunk Love, Adam Sandler again gives a relatively restrained performance but is back in the mainstream with this comedy. He plays mild-mannered businessman Dave Buznik who, after a misunderstanding regarding some in-flight headphones, is ordered into anger management under the counsel of spirited shrink Dr Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson). Rydell's methods are unusual, to say the least — he moves in with Sandler while making a move on his girlfriend Marisa Tomei — but director Peter Segal never really mines the comedy that this pairing and premise deserve. However, this does get by on true star power, Nicholson being one of the very few Hollywood actors who can out-shout Sandler.

    Unexpectedly funny and witty

This is one of these movies that does not get the mass media publicity and caught us by surprise. We found it hilarious, Jack Nickelson being at his very best again. Very enjoyable !

    Hilarious

This movie sees Jack Nicholson do what he does best. It features a whole array of familiar faces including John McEnroe. Adam Sandler is doing his usual good guy role and in the course of the movie slowly his character begins to metamorphose into an angrier and no so good guy. This is all induced by his anger management therapist (Jack Nicholson) who appears to be doing totally the opposite to what he is supposed to be doing. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone.

    Underdeveloped

I can't believe that so much talent was drawn to what is clearly a critically underdeveloped script. The plot is basically yet another trope on John Fowles' 'The Magus' (see 'The Game' amongst others) and tries to function off of themes which are not explored in any structured manner. ie. the notion of why Sandler's character is ripe for anger management is only lightly sketched and the enragement of a buddhist monk has the potential being humourous but the reasons why aren't even touched upon!

A few moments to make you smile, some great performances despite uni-dimensional characterisation but sadly no substance or anything to really laugh about.

    It's OK

This isn't the best Jack Nicholson movie you'll ever see and it's not Adam Sandler's best either. Worth a watch if you're fans of either though.

    A mild comedy

Despite Jack Nicholson and John Turturro I give this only three stars. I never find Adam Sadler very funny, he can do silly things, but his acting is not up to really good comedy. This would have been so much better with Michael Keaton in the role of the innocent amongst confusion.

A great film. The most placid man in the world is made to have anger management in a case of misjustice. It's no wonder that the anger starts to show when you see the amount he has to put up with. This film has got a quirky ending that explains a lot, but it's not what you would expect. The plot is easy to follow and the acting is fantastic. A great film that is a must for the entire family. Rent it NOW!

JN hard up or what ?

If you like Jack Nicholson - Um Well to be honest this movie still would not be worth bothering with - I guess he needed the cash.

    Nicholson needs Career Management

Adam Sandler films seem to be very hit and miss - and this is most definitely a miss. Seems odd that even with Nicholson on the screen the film couldn't 'grab' me and I found little to laugh at. I didn't even bother watching to the end I got so bored - so not for me. For major Sandler fans only - if you're a Nicholson fan you may still find this hard work.

    More like boredom management

Adam Sandler plays the passive aggressive bloke who through a series of events helped along by Jack Nicholson learns to release his inner anger yardy yar yar..............

Ok so not a kind of film that’s been done loads but still nothing to get excited about Adam Sandler has done much better films and personally this did nothing for me, there were the occasional funny line that caused me to smirk but that’s as far as it got I found the washing up mare interesting.

Sorry Adam must do better next time.

    Retarded

Those hooked in by the trailer will be sorely disappointed by this as all the jokes are already in there. The remaining 'gags' teeter on the fence between tiresomely weak and cring-makingly bad. Given the talent on offer it seems inexplicable that something as infantile, amateurish and inept was produced. Then you realise that it's an Adam Sandler movie and so joins a list which, aside from 'The Wedding Singer' and 'Punch Drunk Love', are mostly pretty dire and lame. Sandler fans may manage a plaintive smile on occasion, while Nicholson fans will weep with pain, sadness and frustration at what could've and should've been great, especially given the potential of the concept and cast.

What's the matter with you people?Have you no sense of humour?

Very funny in parts. Jack Nicholson is excellent as usual. Adam Sandler is OK. Mushy ending though.

Sporadically amusing comedy for as long as Sandler's propensity for playing an aggressive man-child is held in check.
