Mike Leigh's latest film focuses on an idyllic couple nearing old age, and their wayward, depressed friends.

A typical Mike Leigh film, about relationships, loneliness and coping in 21st century Britain. Wonderful acting throughout and though the plot is minimal Leighfocuses on the characters.Very like Secrets and Lies! Dont miss it! Jim Broadbent is amazing.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Tigger74 (1 review) , 14 May 2013What an amazing film - a little slow in places but the fine casting soon makes up for that. Good to see a decent british movie that captures characters we know & love in our own lives - enjoy!- Was this review helpful to you?

Another Year
By BrilliantTrees (160 reviews) from Surrey, UK , 10 Apr 2013A film about a stable, middle-aged couple surrounded by unstable friends & family. It's not as humerous as some of Mike Leigh's other films & is slow paced, but well worth watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

Superb performances in a film with depth
By davidnio_42 (5 reviews) from Peterborough , 23 Feb 2013A thoughtful and absorbing story of a year in the life of an elderly couple. They are a beacon of stability in their group of friends, and this is not really their story, rather they are the solid centre of the drama around them. Broadbent and Sheen are touching and believable in their roles as husband and wife Tom and Gerri (geddit) but the film belongs to Lesley Manville as the crumbling friend of Gerri's. As the film progresses I began to empathise with the central pairing less and less, as they seemed to subconciously enjoy being the couple that all their friends desperately wanted to be. Excellent performances and a really absorbing film. Thoroughly recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

Another Year
By a customer , 12 Feb 2013Mike Leigh triumphs again. He never fails to produce a wonderful, human, and credible story. He always gets the best out of the actors and his seemingly simple approach means deep and complex investigation into the human spirit.- Was this review helpful to you?
