Late Brazilian jazz pioneer Antonio Carlos Jobim is captured here in his last recorded concert featuring such classic compositions as Girl From Ipanema and Chega De Suadade (No More Blues). Herbie Hancock performs and emcees. Adapting the percussive excitement of the samba to the intimacy of the guitar while echoing the melodies and harmonies of Cool Jazz, Jobim's new sound quickly became a staple ingredient in the jazz cookbook, and in 1991 Jobim was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

Great all star concert which deteriorates towards the end. Hosted by Herbie Hancock, the concert opens up with a beautiful rendition by Shirley Horn. Other fantastic guests include an awsome Cuban pianist and legendary saxophonist Joe Henderson. Other contributions by a tired John Hendricks and an out of tune Brazilian Diva make the 2nd half of the CD less enjoyable. However the atmosphere is great and Tom Jobim himself also makes an appearance. So All in all this is a concert definitely worth watching!
