Rock music is not my kinda thing, but who was I to argue when I was given free tickets to see a preview of this rockumentary!
And in fact, it wasn't really about the music, it was about the band being together for so long & never really hitting the big time & the struggle they still face to get back onto the scene.
It was also quite funny. Worth a watch even if the band are not to your musical taste.
Although at times I felt it strayed just a little too close to Spinal Tap, director Sacha Gervasi, a long-time fan, really has produced a very good film here. Part rockumentary, part analysis of the main relationship between singer and drummer, part commentary on heavy metal, the movie swaps between achingly funny and the heartwrenchingly sentimental. The film is most definitely not limited to the appeal of the metal masses (of which I admit I am one!). Very solid, entertaining film.
