  • A different aspect

I watched this recently on TV, and found it compelling. The unforeseen consequences of being a 'volunteer' in a case like this are pretty long reaching. Although the story of 'the Wests' is well documented, this from the volunteer's point of view is remarkable.

Well now, I did not enjoy watching this. I found it disturbing and not entertaining. Should have guessed really so my own fault. Superb acting but not light viewing. Dark viewing in fact. Want a light film for a Sunday afternoon? Choose a different one.

Emily Watson -superb! A true story acted supremely by all the cast. Emily plays a working mum under pressure in an amazing way. Fabulous!

  • Psychologically insightful

A chilling insight into the Fred and Rosemary West murders. Most impressive was the frighteningly plausible West and how Janet finds herslf gently seduced into the horrible pyschological trap that so many of the vulnerable girls fell into before they were killed. Fred West and his inability to separate from the sadistic Rose shows us the worst side of abuse, abusers and an accurate insight into the pattern of abuse.

  • Compelling and chilling - well acted

Compelling and chillingly realistic drama which gives a real insight into the madness of Fred and Rose West and also, disturbingly, West's charm.

Extremely well acted by the whole cast this is a must see.

Great depiction of the early to mid nineties also.

There's a fine line when dealing with a real life event in films, it either sways to the 'hollywood' dramatisation side or swings to the well thought out true to life events, this film swings to the latter, yes some scenes like it says are made for purely dramatisation but all the facts are there, there's no over the top 'hollywood' bs in it.

You can see why this got so many nominations, its so chilling and twisted, but not in the way you see the intimate details of the crime, only the aftermath of what happened

    defo worth watching
