The film to watch if you want to laugh out loud. Combines slapstick and farce in equal measure. Daniel Auteuil (Antoine) is a brilliant straight man to Jose Garcia (Louis). The story is simple. Antoine rescues the emotional Louis from hanging himself, takes him in and finds him a job. He also tries to find the girl who broke his heart. In the process falling for her himself. Fast paced with a witty script, I don't know what is not to like about this. Daniel Auteuil is easily the most accomplished male actor in French cinema. A class act.
good movie overall, good story but nothing new - seems like you've seen it bebore. Good funny bits though.
“Charm is better than good looks,” Irene (Audrey Tautou) assures Jean (Gad Elmaleh), though she has both. I am afraid Tautou will always be Amélie no matter what else she does with her career, but here her charm is absolutely necessary to counteract the mercenary instincts that might otherwise alienate the audience for this trifling Riviera comedy.
