Not quite Rosenkavalier but lots of gorgeous music. I thought Ashley Putnam was terrific as Arabella, so good to have a singer you can believe in in the part. There were some irrelevances in the story. No point in the fortune teller at the beginning. No point in having Arabella's father a compulsive gambler. Nor any point in her lover being excessively rich. Without these the opera could have been shorter and better for it. Glyndbourne did it's usual excellent job with the production. Strauss is best at love music and there was plenty of that. I just sank into it and got carried away.
