Aradhana

I don't usually like Rajesh Khanna but he's good in this. Sharmila Tagore is one of my favourites though, and she is great, and timelessly gorgeous. It's a well made film with a strong soundtrack (songs are very good and very well sung). The plot is complex, convoluted and melodramatic, but that's why I love Bollywood. It's a classic. You can't go wrong!

a good story and great songs by kishore kumar and great acting by the brilliant cast (but shame for the logo in the bottom right of the screen which read 'BABA' in fogged up backround which was a very irritating and lasted through out the whole film)

Aradhana is a very well made film by the standards of (1969) indian cinema. i'm not a huge fan of the leads Rajesh Khanna & Sharmila Tagore but both give excellent career defining performances. Good catchy Songs, great storyline and imaginative direction by the Shakti Samanta, puts this film in the 'Classics' genre. With a Runing time of : 159 mins its the perfect dvd to roll back the years and have a fantastic night in.

Arhadhana tells you the story of a simple girls who dedicates her life to her husband and son. Vandana, the daughter of a doctor, returns to her home town upon completions of her studies. She comes across Arun, a smart and bold air force pilot. They fall in love secretly get married in a temple. Soon she realises she is carrying Aruns child. Arun hastens to get his family to celeberate their marriage socially. Unfortunately, before that happens, he meets with an air crash and dies in an army hospital. Vandana is left with the hard task of bringing up the child to become an air force pilot, the eternal wish of her late husband. The path of Vandana's life is strewn with petals of roses and thorns, smiles and tears and vicissitudes of life toss her here and there, as she goes about fulfilling her duty.
