Having scripted several Bollywood hits and recently seen her son Farhan Akhtar debut with Dil Chahta Hai, Honey Irani makes own her directorial bow with this stellar melodrama scripted with ex-husband and prolific lyricist, Javed Akhtar. Amitabh Bachchan stars as a doctor determined to build a new hospital for his long-suffering patients, but he dies before his ambition is fulfilled and son Anil Kapoor has to resolve his romantic crisis with Preity Zinta and Gracy Singh before realising his father's dream. With the emphasis more on filial than civic duty, this is a solid, but formulaic drama that also boasts a cameo from Hrithik Roshan.

    Watchable

This film has a good script, but the ending seems to be abrupt.

Preity Zinta suits her role to the T. This is the first time Amitabh and Anil share the screen. Anil appears subdued in the scenes with him and this helps the film. Amitabh does justice to his brief role. Randhir Kapoor hams as a tycoon. Its humorous to see him assert his importance while the rest just watch him. Unrealistic portrayal of someone that rich and powerful.

    A diiferent hindi film

Quite a good hindi movie it was different to the usual plots thank god. It had a really good realistic story and the acting was also very good. Gracey Singh almost outshone Anil Kapoor which shows how good an actress she is. It was nice to see Pretty Zinta in a role where she was really manpulative she did a brillant job. This flim is quite serious so if you are expecting a barrell of laughs forgot it. This is def worth watching though.
