Although he has never reached the kung fu heights of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan's high-vaulting, low-swiping action movies — especially those made on his Hong Kong home soil — have an endearing humour that almost amounts to wit. Sadly, this Raiders of the Lost Ark rip-off exports him to Europe, where he seeks out a crusader's relic and battles some lethal monks. As director as well as star, his style is not so much cramped as numbed.

  • "...[A] kung-fu masterpiece....Magnificent....Jackie is an adorable charmer, handling comedy, romance, and his own stunts with inexhaustible charisma..."

    Don't forget the fight scenes...

All reviews I've seen for this have mentioned the stunts but not the fighting. I think the fight scenes between Jackie and the monks and later, the 3 black women are amongst some of the best I've seen in his non-Hong-Kong films. Actually, from what I remember, the film saves most of his fighting for the last section.

But yes, he did have a very serious accident in the film jumping onto a tree which I think he thought would be simple. Luckily for us, he survived!
