    Want a sequel

I strongly recommend this to all lovers of music. Please don't miss - as I nearly did - the extra bits, which include to-camera pieces by Schwarzkopf and Stern.

The (mostly monochrome) image quality is excellent. I assume this was recovered or restored from 35mm. Naturally the sound (presumably from optical tracks) is quite poor - but try this:

If you have a favourite piece on the DVD (in my case Barbirolli hardly letting his orchestra get to the end of the first bar of the Bruckner 7 Scherzo), put on a modern CD or LP of it afterwards. Sonically it's like going from a Trabbie to a Bentley, but musically?

    Greatness

We watch the DVD twice back on back. It was pure pleasure to watch these conductors. They have a greatness surpases understanding and their names will live on.

The documentary bits are short and informative. Then it is back to the conducters with each one having a unique character not seen in daily life.

An experience to watch and listen.
