OK I have to agree here, it is a wonderful film. I haven't seen the press for it but they should be falling over themselves in praise.
The CGI is amazing and ties into live action really well, the plot builds up nicely (and my kids were glued through the whole thing as well).
Lots of laughs through out, slapstick for the kids (the very tall king who really is ..... well go and see it) and references for the grownups (spot the pulp fiction ones!). The real love interest between the two leads is beautifully portrayed and really poignant at the end.
A must see for all the family.
This film has really had a bit of bad press, and for the life of me I don't know why. OK the story is similar to others (evil planners have are about to take over a house with a deadline to demolish it and build apartments - unless money or whatever is found to foil their evil plan!). But it is still a good tale, especially for youngsters. The one thing that sets this apart from any other is the animation (CGI). It is simply stunningly lifelike and beautifully amazing. It is a real work of art worth on its own watching this film for. Even though at 1Hr 42 mins it is longer than most 'PG' films, it kept the children (and us !) really entertained and spellbound. I would say ignore any bad press and 'see' the invisibles for yourself. We will rent this again and probably buy it too. Definately recommended.
My son and I really enjoyed this film, and like the other reviewer thought the animation was wonderful. A great family film!
IF ANY PARENT WANTS PEACE AND QUIET THIS FILM WOULD CERTAINLY DO THE TRICK.
If my daughter (who loves watching movies, aged 8) can't sit through a whole film, then it doesn't get a second look from me. Sounded like a movie she would have enjoyed, but she found it a little on the boring and predictable side.

Absolutely terrific, everyone will love it, i did'nt realise all the big names that were involved in this film.

If you have kids then by all means watch this film, however if you are hoping its another cgi film thats designed for adults too, you'll probably be as disappointed as I was. Thin, fast and very light hearted story that washes over everything without too much emotion or impact. Its a good kids film for kids, thats all.

The tale's young hero, Arthur, is battling to save his grandparents' home from the clutches of real estate developers. His grandfather is missing, but handily he's left the boy a series of clues to a hidden treasure trove which, if it's found, could be used to pay off the money- grubbing developers. But this is no straight-forward, stroll in the park search. In trying to find the haul Arthur must unlock the passageway to an underground world populated by curious, minute creatures. The home of these 'invisibles' is also in peril: in their case, because of a malevolent wizard. So, joining forces with an almost improbably beautiful princess, Arthur sets off on his perilous mission.
The cast list reads like a Hollywood Who's Who. Robert de Niro, Harvey Keitel, Madonna and Mia Farrow all feature. But it's the young lead who really takes centre stage. Freddie Highmore was Charlie in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was a role he played well but I fully expected him, as with a plethora of child actors, to then disappear into fresh air. But Highmore comes alive in this movie; both when we see him in the flesh, and when he's voicing his animated incarnation. Besides Highmore, Mia Farrow, as Arthur's scatty grandmother, is utterly charming and David Bowie makes for a very creepy, yet nicely understated, evil wizard Maltazard. The look of Maltazard's henchmen exemplify the darker side of Luc Besson's previous work but their idiocy prevents them being too terrifying for smaller children. A highly underrated hidden gem
