'Girls, girls, girls. - Would the more attractive of you please step forward!' (lol)

Arthur seems like a very odd character to put it bluntly, (as he is talking to the couple of prostitutes, one of which he later calls, 'Princess Gloria!')

Without even having seen the remake I can understand why Russell Brand was chosen to play Arthur, purely on the basis that he actually sounds almost identical to Dudley Moore!

Yeh its fair to say that Arthur seems like a tremendous pain in the a%£e! -He comes across as being a pathetic person!

Amusingly he's got a massive train set operating in his bedroom!

Arthur has a butler called Hobson who he calls, 'His best friend in the world.' Hobson is very sarcastic!

- 'Do you want to run my bath for me?'

'That's what I live for!'

Only Arthur would wear a top hat in the bath!

'I hate it here!

- 'Of course you hate it, people work here!'

Arthur's family are trying to get him to marry Susan Johnson. He isn't keen but he will become seriously wealthy, (to the tune of $750 million if he does).

Arthur spots a shop lifter, Linda, (Liza Minnelli), and helps her out in her altercation with the security guard by vouching for her. He becomes besotted with her.

'Usually one must go to a bowling alley to meet a woman of your statue!' (lol)

So far I'm thinking this movie is pretty weak unfortunately.

Arthur goes on a date with Linda.

- 'I've never taken care of anyone, everyone has always taken care of me.'

The love story between Arthur and Linda is utterly unconvincing, (even for a romantic comedy!)

'Marry Susan and cheat with the nobody from Queens!'

'You seem to find humour in everything.'

Arthur has an engagement dinner, (drunk) with Susan.

'I don't need your money.'

- 'I want to help you.'

'Well look what it's done for you!'

John Gielgud, (Hobson) is the only actor who makes this film partially watchable with his brilliantly executed barbed comments.

'Nice place, I like a living room you can land a plane in!'

'Do you remember when we used to play hide and seek. I would hide and you would never find me.'

- 'Did you know I never looked!'

'Arthur you look awful.'

- 'That's because you've never seen me sober!'

Interestingly the film never explains why Arthur, the rich English man is living in the States.

'Bar tender we want two more.'

- 'Haven't you had enough?'

'We want more than enough!'

'Can you take the next sixty years off?!'

- 'I will have to ask!!'

'You know he seems drunk, but he sounds sincere!'

I really expected this movie to amount to a lot more and breathed a huge sigh of relief when it ended! (Maybe the remake will be superior?)
