A good build up to a disappointing ending
By Cathy from Uckfield, Sussex , 09 Jun 2009[Highly rated reviewer]
Quite an entertaining ongoing story, however the ending was disappointingly stupid. I felt very let down, but the rest of the series was good in itself- Was this review helpful to you?

By a customer from Cornwall , 19 Jan 2010Excellent film. Will be watching that again and again. The only thing I have against it is, the sudden finish. The character, Gene Hunt is BRILLIANT!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Back on form
By Pseudolus (10 reviews) from Exeter , 17 Jan 2010I was disappointed with season 1 of Ashes to Ashes, which failed to catch the same excitement as it's predecessor, Life on Mars. Fortunately Season 2 is a vast improvement.
Alex Drake's modern police methods seem to have a genuine purpose this season, unlike season 1 where Gene Hunt continually proved that brute force and ignorance could do what modern psychology could not.
The storyline too seems more focused, first with the introduction of Chief Superintendent Mackintosh (A moment to gush here, Roger Allam is one of our best and most underrated stage actors) and then with the appearance of Martin Summers (Adrian Dunbar, equally superb), both first rate villains to round off the cast.
There are still areas which didn't seem to work for me, but these build up to a dramatic finale to the season.
You may see that others have heavily criticised the ending. I loved it, and it bodes well for a well timed change in both pace and direction for the third and final season.- Was this review helpful to you?
