    [Highly rated reviewer]

Firstly it should be pointed out I chose this film for all the wrong reasons. I was attracted by the cover which has more than a passing resemblance to the game series 'Assassins Creed' but this film couldn't be further from it.

I also didn't note until I started watching that this film is foreign language with subtitles. That said I was awake while watching the film.

The film starts off well setting the scene of an ancient far east conflict , the action is well filmed, the acting very natural & the picture quality of the transfer to DVD is excellent putting some Blu rays I've seen to shame.

Where things went slightly wrong in this film is when the teenagers from the present day get pulled into the past along with their very nice Toyota via a series of dodgy jump cuts & special effects.

Very soon they're blending in & helping to resolve the conflict making the film watchable again before the slightly far fetched climax.

I can't help thinking this film would have been much better if it had ditched the far fetched premise & stuck as a period battle epic.

Worth a rent if your list hit's rock bottom & you like your sword battles fast & furious...
