The best JCVD movie since JCVDBy DeanOfFaberCollege (16 reviews) from Oxford , 10 Nov 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]It's the JCVD movie we've all been waiting for since... er... JCVD. Back to his best form, JC strains every acting sinew to play a lone assassin who is asked to kill somebody for money, but then it all goes wrong and blah blah blah... team up with other assassin...blah blah blah... love interest etc.
Let's be honest, the plot doesn't matter. We're not expecting Hamlet and JC knows this. What we get is a constipated performance featuring the usual existentialist philosophical reflections that must taunt lone assassins ('...but am ah alahve eef ah don't feel?') punctuated by a lot of fabulous botty kicking.
There was a risk that JCVD was reaching the end of his shelf life. Films, like the recent emetic 'The Shepherd' suggested we weren't taking him seriously any more and that future roles would be Straight to Streaming. This film, though, takes us right back to the glory days of Timecop and Universal Soldier. How long before the JCVD / Jason Statham blockbuster that our culture so richly deserves?

Great seeing Van Damme,By a customer , 06 Feb 2012Not seen van damme for a while, but was great to see him in this film. Action packed... Worth watching.
JCVD all growed up...By pgd (1 review) , 25 Jan 2012Watchable, well-paced action thriller
Van Damme is unusually mature and restrained. He plays the part of world-weary assassin pretty well I thought
Not a load of fight scenes, and not a lot of acrobatic moves, but I put this down to the rise of mixed martial arts. The fights in this are much more realistic than JCVD's other films, and perhaps reflect how aged fighters fight - less flips and stuff, and more effective techniques.
I will recommend this to my mates
Found it slow , hard to stay watching itBy smokeychops (670 reviews) from newcastle under lyme , 25 Jan 2012I thought this film was ok , but found it hard to stay interested in it. I think Van Damme looks way past his best as an actor. Found the film quite slow in places and a quite slow moving film. Didn't really enjoy it.
Slow but stick with it.By Roos242 (2 reviews) , 13 Jan 2012Slow movie but the plot develops as you watch. It is quite gritty but has a good ending, worth waiting for when it eventually comes. Van Damme is quite good but not anything like when he was at his prime.
Bloody awfulBy LMPReview (13 reviews) , 13 Dec 2011Bloody awful! I saw JC filming this when I caught a glimpse of his documentary JC: behind close doors, so thought I would take a look.
I was astonished how poor it was, it looked like a student film and dont even get me started on the colour grading attempt!
Other than poor filmmaking, it is a jean claude action film, just not one of his best; only rent if youre a die hard JC fan.
