Following on from Asterix the Gaul and produced by Belvision (the same company responsible for a series of Tintin adventures and 1975's Smurfs and the Magic Flute), this is the second animated feature culled from the classic comic books by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Once again, the pair took dual directorial responsibility for this amusing (if racially suspect) odyssey, in which Asterix, Obelix, his pet pooch Dogmatix and the potion-brewing druid Getafix set out to cock a snook at Caesar by building a palace for the Queen of the Nile, whose retroussé nose is the talk of the Roman Empire.
this dvd is superb. my children loved it. In this film our little warrior from Gaul called Asterix, goes to Egypt, in order to help a friend of their druids.
They need to build a Palace, that is being constructed to impress Caesar on the orders of Cleopatra.
The problem is however, that she has only given the architect three months to build the whole thing, or else.
If you are an asterix fan, and do not speak French, then this is a must for you to watch.
well worth renting out.
The film is no where as good as the books. This is a cartoon version that pads the film with songs. The voices are not as expected either. I felt a little disappointed. I think there is a real life version which maybe better.
