For fans of the Goscinny/Uderzo comic books, this is a bit of a letdown. Here, the wily Asterix tries to restore the memory of the village soothsayer so that his powers can be used in the fight against the Romans. The animation is rather stilted, though, and the British voices (Bill Oddie, Bernard Bresslaw, Ron Moody among them) are too well known to let the characters speak for themselves. The puns and Latin tags are still great fun, however.
Dull adaptation of a far wittier comic-book original.
Read the books they are better.
This animation didn't quite hit the mark in terms of humour and smacked of being 'cleaned up' with the druid being called 'Vitaminfix' rather than 'Getafix'.
