Being an Asterix fan, I couldn't wait for this film to be released on DVD, as it had not been out in any of the cinemas near us after original release.
The previous live action Asterix films are been brilliant, so I expected something similar.
You can see that a lot of money and effort went into this film. The special effects are spectacular, and the cameos of real-life sports stars work really well.
However, the storyline doesn't, and I can't put my finger on why that is. Is it the original material, or the added love story subplot?
All I can say is that I felt disappointed. Maybe they should have stopped at 'Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra'
Very funny but maybe too Frenchy, it's like watching Life on Mars in France if you don't have a British culture.
We have had another Asterix film and were looking forward to this one. Gerard Depardieu is a great actor. However, as we couldn't choose a language for audio purposes and only had subtitles this spoilt the film for my son who could not keep up with watching and reading subtitles together.

Being a fan of Asterix the comic strip and cartoons from years ago I was terribly disappointed with this movie.
Not in the least bit funny.
i liked the previous ones, but this one was a dissipointment. Not awful, but bad!
Just a quick review. Our son loves Asterix and has read all the books several times. However this was a big let down. Asterix and Obelix are not in the film as much as expected and the dubbing is truly terrible - I suggest stick to the cartoon versions
funny, funny, funny, great fun for adults and kids alike.
The movie had a few good moments, I learnt it flopped at the french box office however there is a little fun and the climatic chapter at the end has a few unexpected cameos that soften your overall disappointment of the movie.
Very disappointing. Some scenes are quite funny although you have to be French to 'get it'. The last 30 minutes are useless and are just a pretext to prove that the director had invited some sports stars. Not recommended
Sorry, didnt even watch it.
